A bump on the head

Today's topic is the science of Phrenology, or the method of telling someone's personality from the shape of his nose. Finding perhaps the only person brave enough to believe in this unfairly ridiculed science, I wrote him a friendly and not at all mocking letter. Alas, he must have fallen down the stairs at child, critically crushing his courtesy bump, as he responded quite rudely, and our thorough investigation into the Cold Hard Facts behind this most interesting phenomenon must go on without him.

The best way to test phrenology is to find a picture of someone we know all about and make his head fit the profile. And who better to look at, than..

Comparing this specimen to the chart.

The first thing we notice is the prominent swelling of the forehead in the benevolence area, indicating compassion. But more than that, the head is of course well rounded. Our fearless leader has no shortage of affection, constructiveness, causality, self-esteem, and eventuality. This man possesses the "dome-shaped head of the superior type," indicating conscientiousness and spirituality. Clearly he is a kind and caring person, upright, moral person, who is open-minded and would never purge millions of people just because a) he can and b) he has an inhuman desire to rule by fear. A higher being, civilized in every way. This profile is completely objective and comparing it with the biography of specimen we can see how the character traits we assigned to our subject impacted his life.

Of course a phrenologist must be careful, for hair can mask character and a bump or concavity in the skull can really be a wrinkle or acne. Most phrenologist ignore this, but some insist on shaving their subjects bald and surgically removing any skin imperfections before proceeding.

Another scientific error results from deformation of skull, in which a patient may be of one type but due to his weirdly shaped head, he appears to have problems. This man is one example.
His grotesque ugliness makes it impossible for us to tell his true personality.

The last cause of error is due to a failure to appreciate the "interaction between faculties". In fact most of the time the phrenologist is way off, it's not because he was actually wrong, but because of the complex personality interactions with a bump he missed. Getting these interactions right is extremely difficult, and it helps to "cold read" insights into the subject's character, lest the unwary phrenologist miss anything. Some so called experts suggest that this may be a cause for saying phrenology is bunk and should have been at least disproved 100 years ago, but they are lying through their teeth. Furthermore most of these Skeptics tend to have an indentation where their intelligence bump should be, if you know what I mean. So we shouldn't pay attention to what scientists have to say. In fact science isn't even a phrenologically acceptable career for any skull shape.

For any further questions just email phrenology.org; they'll be sure to address your concerns. And, while you're at it, you might as well demand an apology for my sake, for no one mortally offends Stalin and lives to tell the tale.

Where have you been?

Well it's been a long time and yes there were many interesting things to blog about, such as the guy who can turn earwax into gold, the guy holding himself hostage in Nebraska, and the three thugs who robbed a bank at gunpoint for a dollar to buy a cream soda from the machine across the street. But alas I couldn't blog any of it because I was in jail on murder charges, cellmate to a guy named Butch who said if I ever blogged the Cold Hard Facts of exactly where in New York his multimillion dollar stash of cocaine was, he'd knock out every last one of my teeth. He needn't have worried. I didn't have internet access in that jail anyway.

Why in the world did the police suspect me of murdering anyone? Well my lawyer says I can't talk about it, but now that I'm free and cleared of all charges, expect more of The Cold Hard Facts soon.

Hceeps Esrever

Read this post forward and then read it in reverse, in order not to miss out on all the Cold Hard Facts, because today's topic is the exciting new field of reverse speech. Created by a man who bears an uncanny resemblance to Saddam Hussein, Reverse Speech may just be the key to our inner Psyche. See people can lie with normal speech in forward time direction, but if you record those lies on a special broken tape recorder, play them backwards, and listen real closely until you go insane, the truth emerges.

And not only are you subconsciously giving away all your deepest darkest inner thoughts in reverse, even people who can only express gibberish in forward speech, like babies, are already fluent at talking backwards. So that little baby, who's so cuuuute may really be cursing you off backwards. And babies aren't the only ones who can express themselves backwards. Did you know that people with severe mental retardation, who appear to only communicate with grunts and shrieks, are actually composing poems in reverse speech. All this incontrovertible evidence leads to only one conclusion, "that the process of spoken communication in children begins backwards before it does forwards."

Of course there are skeptics who foolishly question the utility of reverse speech. For some reason they are stupid enough to think that there is no rational benefit in subconscious communication in a medium that no one could understand before the invention of tape recorders. Ha! Of course there's a benefit. From an evolutionary standpoint, you wouldn't want to subconsciously express your innermost thoughts on a topic in an easily understandable form, because such thought expression would obviously end all marriages before reproduction occured, and thus Reverse Speech evolved. It makes perfect sense!

But how can you get in on the reverse speech action? It's easy for the small fee of $295, you can own a Sony tape recorder reconfigured to run backwards. Then for a small fee of $300/week for 3 weeks and another small fee of $300/week for 5 weeks, and yet another small fee of $300/week for only 8 weeks, and a few extra hundred dollars in software, you can become a Reverse Speech Practitioner and charge others the hugely inflated prices. But it's worth it. Just send me 500 bucks and a blank CD and a microphone, and I'll dictate the offer to you backwards; you'll see I'm not lying.

It's a bear... It's a guy in gorilla suit... It's BIGFOOT. Oh wait it is a bear.

Bigfoot is he real? No one knows for sure, but most people think he is and that it is only a matter of time before we nab him. We bring an exclusive Cold Hard Facts report on Bigfoot and what our top biologists are doing to nab him.

First we turn to the most trusted name in Bigfoot field research, the aptly named Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. Their skeptical researcher are constantly investigating encounters with the reclusive beasts and separating the facts from the fiction. They remind viewers of the importance of always looking at skeptical arguments, such as "Didn't some guy say that you claim a picture of him in a gorilla suit is Bigfoot," skeptically. I mean if he hoaxed us once by dressing up in a costume, who's to say he's not hoaxing us again by admitting it; obviously this picture is of Bigfoot.

But now that the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization has conclusively proven bigfoots exist, how do we go about catching one? This is job for the Great American Bigfoot Research Organization. Right now their top fieldhands are hard at work on a serious scientific mission to find a bigfoot and bring him alive, and for only $6.95 US per month we can receive daily entries on their progress so far. Knowing that you all are cheapskates this blog managed to procure a couple of free journal entries.
April 1, 2006
Dear Diary,
Had the expiditions photos developed today. Why does a bigfoot always look blurry and in the distance? Perhaps it's the quality of my wide-angle lens. But no matter. The expiditon must go on. I know bigfoots are intelligent. If only I could get one to talk to me, I'm sure we both would have a lot to learn.

April 2, 2006
Dear Diary,
Great news! Met a bigfoot today. His name is Urgurg and he invited me over for tea tomorrow. This could be the break investigators have been seaching for. Still it begs a question. Bigfoots drink tea? Could it be that they are far more intelligent and cultured than we believed possible?

April 3, 2006
Dear Diary,
Bad news. After talking to Urgurg today, I made a horrible dicovery: Urgurg is not a bigfoot. He's a just a creepy human in a costume named Sam Mudgeman. Even worse, when I showed him our scientific footage of a bigfoot, he demanded to know how long we've been stalking him. Then he pulled out a gun and ordered us to get off his property and leave him alone. I don't believe it. My whole life's work wasted. Still we must press on.

April 5, 2006
Dear Diary,
Thought we saw a bigfoot today, but when I heard a gunshot, I realized it was just Mudgeman. When will that guy get a life? Sometimes I ask myself is bigfoot really out there? Perhaps we'll never know.

Exciting stuff. So until next time remember to send all those Bigfoot sightings to the experts, and perhaps with your help, even scientists will believe in Bigfoot.

Did the world end yesterday?

Yesterday was the sixth day of the sixth month of the the 2006th year after the fourth year after Jesus was born, associating it with the number 662006, THE NUMBER OF EVIL. Unless of course you're more of a yyyy/mm/dd kind of guy in which case 200766 is the NUMBER OF EVIL. And according some movie trailer, there will be... will have been... was dire consequences yesterday involving a little kid and a tea party. But this is no time to no time to have a tea party; this is the time to call in the resident experts and discern the Cold Hard Facts on the matter.
If the world will end yesterday... I mean will have ended... would have... ended yesterday, we wouldn't very well exist would we? So I think we're fine.
He thinks he so smart. Well maybe in the future the world will have been retroactively annulled annulled yesterday. Did you think of that before you ridiculed me, huh? Forget you, I'm going to our next expert.
Do I think the world will end yesterday because some arbitrary calendar with either the arbitrary format mm/dd/yy or the equally arbitrary format dd/mm/yy comes out to 666 if you arbitrarily leave out the /s and 0s. This is a tough question. I can't just give an arbitrary answer of whether the world will have ended.
So you're caught on the fence, eh. You skeptics are always to scared to make a stand.

Well like always the skeptics choose to answer a reasonable question with sarcasm and ignore the facts. So let's turn to more of a true believer.
Certainly the world ended yesterday. You may not notice it yet, but trust me you will. You might think killing me will stop it, but my death will make little difference. The end of the world is already here. You can't prevent it; you can't escape it, for the end is already upon us, and there's no turning back.
That guy sounds much more reasonable. But how can the world end without us noticing it. Well since information doesn't travel faster than the speed of light, and since the world ends say a light-year from us yesterday, we won't know it ended until a year from yesterday when the signal reaches us, but it certainly already ended.

So to summarize, it's all for you Damien, whatever that means.

The June Primary

Today was the very important June primary, upon which the whole future of our country depended. And once again to discuss the cold hard facts with us, is our political clairvoyant Madame Cleo Browne.

Madame Cleo Browne: I see the facts. They are cold and hard!
Cold Hard Facts: Since you were last with us, you helped the Houston Police solve a murderer. Tell us about that.
MCB: I had a vision of a body, felt and suffering and death. "Who did this horrible deed" I cried, and the spirits revealed the path. They showed my a man with flaming red hair, a crooked nose, a eye blue and one brown.
CHF: That's quite descriptive, but I don't think...
MCB: Silence unbeliever! Be gone skeptic! The spirits have not yet finished revealing their wisdom! A broad chin did I see, and an eyepatch black as night and one eyebrow, ugliness unmarred by a mustache. And as the spirits revealed, so did the murderer look. See for yourself.

CHF: Um, let's talk about that primary.
MCB: I see a man, he is speaking. Triumphant is he and joyous! Protestant and Anglo-Saxon is he, it is an M word, clearly a winner.
CHF: M-word? You mean Richard Menendez?
MCB: Yes Menendez the WASP, a name of strength, power. He is destined for the presidency. A crisis with Iran will unfold and he will attempt to solve.
CHF: Wow that's amazing. How did you know that? You must have a newspaper.
MCB: Newspaper, it has never crossed my eyes. From the underworld does all my news come. I see another man, he is crying, sulking devastated. A man will lose.
CHF: Astounding, tell me more.
MCB:Um argh, blood, guts, death. Can't continue stupid interview. Danger.
CHF: Well, ok then.

Mysteries of the Marshall Islands Square

The Bermuda Triangle an exactly triangle shaped region of the ocean, where millions of ships and airplanes disappear daily. But what causes all those ships to disappear? Skeptics would have you believe their arcane and ridiculous explanations such as stormy seas or pilot error. We on other hand know that like always, those skeptics are involved in the active destruction of the truth, just to make us true-believers seem ridiculous.

So what is the real explanation for the triangle? No one knows for sure, but the answer has something to do with Atlantis, wormholes, and aliens. Unfortunately I was not able to understand the deep truth of the wormhole-Atlantis-space-alien hypothesis, but it has something to do with aliens transporting a neutron star under the Atlantic in order to warp light in that area, and as it has the words quantum and relativity in it, it must be true. So until next time, remember that no one knows less about science then the biased idiots who call themselves scientists.

Gas Pills

Made by Bio Performance, they work, they're fuel efficient, and Texas is unfairly cracking down on them. What are they? A revolutionary new fuel additive that increases fuel efficiency so much that some customers actually lose gas mileage. But Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has it in for them. First he viciously blackmailed independent researchers in the University of Texas into claiming that the Fuel Pills are made of Naphthaline, a bald faced lie. Now he's saying that Bio Performances brilliant marketing scheme in which each mark pays the one above him in what is called "the pyramid" $50 for the right to sell gas pills, and then sells this right to the four people below him in this pyramid, is actually an illegal pyramid scandal. The Gall!

But how do these pills actually work? According to some people who are not Bio Performance they "lower flashpoint of our fuel, which allows for easier ignition. It will in turn, because of dispersant quality, enable fuel to burn more efficiently"

But that is just a smokescreen set up to cover their real secret, the Vronks - Krebb Reaction.

As the equation illustrates 1 mole of octane reacts with 1 mole one naphthalene, which is not present in Bio Performance, to form 3 moles of muon neutrinos plus gamma radiation and byproducts, and nothing kickstarts a car quite like muon neutrinos or gamma rays, not to mention the byproducts. But gas pills are just the beginning. Imagine what could be done with the Vronks-Krebbs reaction. The possibilities are endless!

Ghosts: Part II — Ouija Boards

Ouija Boards: Everyone knows they can communicate with the dead. Well everyone except the few skeptics, who can never accept the normal explantion for everything. They seem to think the guy holding the ouija pointer is the one who moves it, but that is so rediculous we won't discuss it any further. To get back on topic, can Ouija boards summon demons or is talking to the dead just a bad idea. We bring you the Cold Hard Facts. Do to religious concerns I wouldn't actually use a Ouija board, so I found a transcribed conversation.

User: Oh great and powerful Ouija board of Oz, speak to me.
Ouija Board: O-K
User: You're actually revealing the letters paranormally? That's not my fingers moving the pointer over then correct letters subconciously or something stupid like that?
Ouija: N-O-O-F-C-O-U-R-S-E-N-O-T-!
User: Oh Good. So which spirt is talking to me?
Ouija: J-O-H-N-T-H-E-D-E-A-D-M-A-N
User: John the dead man, what's it like being a dead man?
Ouija: N-O-T-F-U-N
User: Will I ever get married?
Ouija: N-O-Y-O-U-A-R-E-A-L-O-S-E-R
User: I don't believe you. Show me proof.
Ouija: Y-O-U-A-R-E-T-A-L-K-I-N-G-T-O-A-B-O-A-R-D-O-F-W-O-O-D-.
User: So?
Ouija: O-N-L-Y-L-O-S-E-R-S-U-S-E-O-U-I-J-A-B-O-A-R-D-S
User: Oh great Ouija Board, can you summon a demon?
Ouija: N-O
User: Please?
Ouija: N-O
User: Pretty Please?
Ouija: N-O
User: Pretty Please with a cherry on top?
Ouija: F-I-N-E-I-F-Y-O-U-I-N-S-I-S-T
Demon: Boo
User: Cool!
Ouija: G-E-T-A-L-I-F-E
Demon: Yes, get a life. Loser!

So the evidence is clearly inconclusive. Stay tuned for the exciting part three of our series, or get a life.

7 Habits of Highly Effective Blogs

As you all know The Cold Hard Facts is the most successful blog in the history of blogs. But how is it done? Well if you utilize the 7 legal suggestions that follow, I personally guarantee your blog too will become a sensation.

1) Post daily: As you all know this blog posts a new and exciting thought that can be mulled over with the morning coffee. As the saying goes, “It is better to speak when you have nothing to say, than not to speak at all.” You too must post daily, even if you have no time and nothing to say, otherwise no one will ever bother reading it.

2) Have a gimmick to draw in readership: I have found the best draw for blogs is free candy. People come for the candy and stay for the post.

3) Contrary to what you may have heard, never link to other people’s blogs*: That practice only increases those blogs’ hits; it doesn’t benefit you in any way. In fact it is harmful, because those blogs might be, and probably are, more interesting than yours and will steal your precious, precious readership.

4) Get linked to from other people blogs: Obviously you have to be crafty about this because those other people just read tip #3. But a good way to do this is to randomly go to a blog, and post the following comment: “Quite an informative piece you got there. More information on that topic is available here,“ of course linking the word here to your blog. It’s the kind of nuanced, subtle approach to publicity that will get you noticed without creating a fuss.

5) Controversial Political Opinions: Your blog will never go anywhere unless it offends someone. But why just offend someone? The more offensive the better, and the following political positions are guaranteed to offend democrat, republican, and communist alike, making your blog the talk of the internet. a) Raise taxes and invade China, b) Free silver and tariff reform (very controversial nowadays), and c), this one's a real gem, show strong support for the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850. Those are sure to get your blog noticed.

6) Celebrity Gossip: It’s no secret that a blog is nothing without a juicy bit of celebrity gossip. But most people don’t realize that this can be combined with tip #5 for extra effectiveness, as in the following quote:
“Britney Spears was seen today looking resplendent in a Sheik black dress, possibly illustrating her support for the Fugitive Slave Act.”

7) And if those six tips don’t work? Then go with the tried and true method: Chain Letters! There is no better way to take advantage of gullible, superstitious morons. But don’t bother writing you own. I included one of mine that has been making waves across the internet. Just substitute your blog for The Cold Hard Facts, change the URL, and send it to everyone in your inbox. This baby will travel all around the internet in no time.
There is a very important website you must see, or you will die. Don’t believe us, here are four cases.
CASE 1: Kimbe Olobogo of Gambia had one goal in life, to earn enough money subsistence farming to support a family. Then one day the price of Okra went up, and Kimbe earned 3 whole dollars! He was so exited. But then he noticed, he had had e-mail. He checked it, mostly the usual United States Scams, but then he saw one that he had never gotten before. It was this letter telling him to check out The Cold Hard Facts. He wanted to, but he was too poor to own a computer. BIG MISTAKE! Later that evening, he died of malaria.

CASE 2: Take Mao Jindao. She received this letter and being the believer that she was, she sent it to her friends but she couldn’t see The Cold Hard Facts, because the Chinese government censored it. Three days later, Jindao went to a masquerade ball. Later that night when she left to get to her bicycle to go home, she was killed on the spot by a hit-and-run drunk driver. And later, the friends that got sent her letter and also couldn't check out The Cold Hard Facts also died in horrible accidents.

CASE 3: Kim S. Winters sent it to these guys. Seconds later, she was run over by an army tank, in her own house.

CASE 4: Richard S. Willis sent this letter out within 45 minutes of reading it, went to elonstruths.blogspot.com, read the entire The Cold Hard Facts and posted 23 comments. Not even 4 hours later walking along the street to his new job interview, he got an even better job with a really big company, when he ran into his real estate agent who told him that his house offer was accepted! But his day got even better! Later on his computer, a little window popped up saying he won a free ipod, and he actually won one. Then his wife decided not to divorce him, and they lived happily ever after.

This is the letter:

You must go to The Cold Hard Facts, read three posts and write a comment, then send this on in 3 hours after reading the letter to 10 different people. If you do this, you will receive unbelievably good luck. If you do not, bad luck will rear it's ugly head at you. THIS IS NOT A JOKE! You have read the warnings, seen the cases, and the consequences. You MUST send this on, or face dreadfully bad luck.

*NOTE* The more people that you send this to, the better luck you will have.

P.S. I did not make this up, someone sent it to me and I went to The Cold Hard Facts, and now am passing it on to you! Now you have to stop everything you’re doing to send it along! Pbttth! You have been warned!

Well there you have 7 tips to make your blog almost as successful as this one.

*Statistics show that 93.4% of Americans do not consider The Cold Hard Facts an “Other Person’s Blog.”

Ghosts

Ghosts, they haunt our pubs and ruin our photographs. This ghost had the audacity to write physics graffiti all over this one. Clearly ghosts are a serious problem. A problem that must be examined by a serious source, like this blog. Here is the Cold Hard Facts on ghosts.

We start by examining testimony of self-proclaimed experts, scientists who talk to ghosts on a daily basis.
Ghosts? You mean invisible dead guys that can go through walls, but yet still knock two pots against each other and make a noise? Bah!
Only an idiot would believe in ghosts.
I have never seen a ghostly phenomenon that couldn't be explained away without the use of ghosts.

Clearly, once again the skeptics know nothing. These guys must be the only people in the world who would ignore the overwhelming evidence for anything that breaks the laws of physics.

Ah here we go.These guys know about ghosts. Not only can they see and hear ghosts, but you too can "see dead people" with six easy lessons. And that degree in ghostology will take career to new levels. John Smith, Ghostologist, is clearly Senior Vice President material.

But how do you detect ghosts once you get your diploma. It's all in the Air Ion Counter, Gaussmeter, and Geiger Counter, equipment specifically designed for optimum ghost deteection. This equipment provided the first positive confirmation that ghosts live around Uranium mines.

So buy your Ghostology degree and Ghosthunting equipment and join the good fight to keep ghosts out of your pubs and photos.

Don't expect more blog posts!

Blogging will be light today, due to the fact I have run out of ideas.

Bloody Murder

I was just clicking on the little "Next Blog" button in the upper right corner when I came upon one called Fantasies of A Serial Killer. I decided to publish his latest and most probably last entry, in order to provoke calm discourse, and eventually lead to a great example of Linear Decay.
Here now is the complete entry, which once again I did not write
To all my loyal and devoted fans. I have an important announcement to make, which will forever change the nature of our relationship. I murdered 12 humans in cold blood. But there was a purpose to this madness, this blog. That's right. Before the only person who ever read this garbage was my grandma, and even you hated it. I got maybe one hit a week. But no longer.

Just think about all the publicity I'll generate. Never again will I ignored. I can just see the statcounter shooting up already.

But even better, for the first time ever, people will leave comments. Now I will forever be known as "You Punk", "You Sick Freak", and "You Stupid Nasty Jerk" even among strangers. Yes, random people from all over the world will write to me and tell me how they really feel about me. It's too perfect.

But what am I rambling on about? This has to be posted before the FBI drag me away, or it won't work. And remember loyal fans, as always tell me what you think. Heh Heh.

Yours truly
John "Killer" Smith

Wait, before you start posting your comments, remember to send this to all your gullible friends. Let's get this thing forwarded all over the internet, and Make John Killer Smith proud.

Secret Society of the Secret Fraternal Order of ________

We are here with the Vice President of the Secret Society of the Secret Fraternal Order of ________, A society so secret that non-member can't even know it's full name. But at last we have found a snitch who will give us the Cold Hard Facts and the inner workings of this club. There is no reason to suspect why a disgruntled member would not give us only the Cold Hard Facts without any embellishment.

Cold Hard Facts: Why is it called the Secret Society of the Secret Fraternal Order of _________?
Snitch: Well if a secret society has a name, then you can figure out what they do without joining. For example, Masons build things, Elks go hunting or something, and Members of the Skull and Bones obviously kill people. Our organization is so secret, you can't find anything about it until you join.
CHF: Why? What's your big secret?
Snitch: Our real name is the Secret Society of the Secret Fraternal Order of Babka.
CHF: Babka?
Snitch: Our first Grand Master thought the word sounded cool and ancient and perfect for a Fraternal Society. But after the derision the name, Secret Fraternal Order of Babka, received from the general public, he declared the sacred and underlying meaning of Babka is too deep for mortal men, and must be kept from profane tongues.
CHF: A wise choice. So do you have some cool initiation ritual?
Snitch: Oh yes we have the sacred ritual of the Glockenspiel. Where the recruit must run through the field of Mangos, and receive the hidden truth of Claymore.
CHF:undoubtedly, the ritual was thought of by your first Grand Master.
Snitch: Um, yeah. He was not very good with names.
CHF: Moving On. What does your group do.
Snitch: Well we get together every month and talk about inducting new members. And we reward the guys who induct the most members, practice the sacred rituals. Oh and sometimes we do stuff to help the community. But mostly we drink, discuss the sacred rituals, which no unenlightened one can know and guard the sacred rituals from unenlightened ones, a big job there. Those unenlightened ones are always trying to spy on us and learn our rituals. You can ever be too careful.
CHF: Why spend so much effort guarding the secret rituals? Does Anyone really care about them?
Snitch: If people knew all we did was discuss nonsense, then where would we be? No the arcane secrets must be held from the world. Otherwise no one would join. WeÂ’d lose the mystique.
CHF: And yet, you just told me.
Snitch: Oh well that's different. You're a member; you know the secret handshake.
CHF: Actually I just guessed. Incidentally, what does VVV mean?
Snitch: Well it's an acronym for three sacred words our first Grand Master came up with. All the initiates keep clamoring to know it, but I always tell them it means Vorld Vide Veb or Ve Vant Vampire and other nonsense like that. I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.
Snitch: Judging by your first Grand Master's penchant for vocabulary. I can imagine it probably is quite a shock. Thank you for taking the time to speak with me.

Where are They Now

Posts have faithfully appeared on this blog every day for the past three weeks, but that is no reason not to post now. Because today I met a guy, Jonathan Jefferson, who claims he meets formerly famous people every day on his way to work. He assures me this is the Cold Hard Fact. So without further ado, here is the real life interview with Jonathan Jefferson.

Cold Hard Facts:Can you give us an example of a formerly famous person you meet regularly.
Jefferson: Well there's Isaac Newton for one. I see him every day in Times Square.
CHF: What would Sir Isaac Newton be doing in Times Square?
Jefferson: Panhandling.
CHF: Isaac Newton, the 14th century physicist, is now begging for change in Time Square?
Jefferson: Oh yeah. He told me that Nabisco cut off his Cookie Royalties, and you would be surprised at how little he gets for "The sum of all forces is the mass times the acceleration". You just can't live above the poverty line on it.
CHF: Do you have a picture of Newton begging to make your claim more believable?
Jefferson: Right here.

Spare Change?

CHF: That's quite an informative picture. Have you seen anyone else?
Jefferson: Well there's the economist, Adam Smith. He lives in a cardboard box on 57th St.
CHF: So he's broke too?
Jefferson: Yup, he lost it all in the stock market.
CHF: Do you know anyone who's not dead?
Jefferson: Well there is Catherine the Great. She plays the Banjo in Penn Station by the LIRR terminal. Incidentally, she's not great. I would be more apt to call her Catherine the Pretty Darn Bad. I only gave her a nickel.
CHF: Do you find it depressing that all these famous people end up as bums and hobos centuries later?
Jefferson: No, if they weren't bums and hobos, I wouldn't be able to meet them. I got to go I just saw Suleiman the Magnificent organ grinding across the street. I should say hello.
CHF: We'll have to invite you back sometime to talk about it.

I have a Confession to Make

Due to the recent uproar about Wal-mart enlisting bloggers for its propaganda campaign, I feel it is only right for me to give the Cold Hard Facts about my sponsors.

First of all, that article I wrote about Irish diets being the key to effective weight loss was not my own work. The Idaho Potato farmers Association gave me discount potatoes to say that. And when I randomly said that Wise made the best potato chips, well I was paid to say that too. And on a less potato related note, when I said Exxon-Mobil captains can't steer their ships very well, I did it because Citgo wired me $1,000 dollars. I regret taking their money now, and resolve not to do any more.

And therein lies the difference between me and those blogs in the Wal-mart Scandal, because unlike those morons, I got paid for writing propaganda. And while we are on that subject, companies if you send me $10, I am your mouthpiece. But I digress, writing corporate propaganda, is wrong, and those guys should be ashamed for being Wal-mart's mouthpieces and should probably kill themselves over it. At least over the fact that they didn't wiggle anything out of Wal-mart, not even free potatoes. I wouldn't have done it because I know you trust me to bring you only the Cold Hard Facts.

Currents Of Death - MUH HAH HAH HA!

Even though electricity can't directly kill people, it is responsible for billions of cases of cancer every year. And thus we should all applaud the actions of Fred Gilbert who won't allow the dangerous "electromagnetic forces" and radio waves produced by Wi-Fi units anywhere near his vulnerable students. But what about other producers of electromagnetic radiation such as blenders, microwave ovens, and particle accelerators? Are they dangerous too? Let's get the Cold Hard Facts on the matter.

Paul Brodeur, a colleague of mine, wrote several books during the 1970s, proving that microwaves such as those produced by power lines caused cancer. Not surprisingly physicists and physiologist everywhere, every one of whom is in the pay of the power companies and chemotherapy providers, tried to cover this up. Of course there is no earthy reason why physicists should know anything about power lines, or medical researchers about cancer, but they just sound so darn convincing. And pretty soon, everyone in the United States thought Brodeur was an idiot, even though he was right.

But Brodeur wouldn't give up. He kept digging and, sure enough he realized that our military and the government of Communist Russia were also involved. This should have gotten everyone's attention, but the evil scientists just scoffed and said that if over 100 peer reviewed papers find no correlation between power lines and cancer, there isn't one. Balderdash, those study authors were also involved in the giant power line conspiracy and therefore biased. The only unbiased guy is Brodeur. And still, no one listened to him.

But now, finally, one man is listening to Brodeur. Good Job, Mr. Gilbert, but it's not enough. As Mr. Brodeur demonstrates every electric appliance and even electrical wiring also cause cancer. Plus all those television and radio stations broadcasting the evening news, polluting our very air with their hideous radiation, will lead to increased rates of heart disease when your students get older. Therefore, this blog suggests the only logical course of action. Move your entire university on a fleet of sailboats, so as not to die from the EM radiation generated by jet engines, to some uncharted island in the Pacific. Your students will thank you and your Paranoia.

By the way, just reading this blog on a CRT exposed you to enough radiation to cut your lifespan by about half. So look into those miracle pills in the archives. You'll need them.

A Polite Political Debate

Presidential elections are coming up in just a few short weeks, and it's time to meet the major candidates to garner the Cold Hart Facts on their policies. First representing the Whig Party, Alexander Hamilton Hamilton. Representing the Know Nothing Party George Washington Harrison III. Representing the favored Vampire Party, Count Nospertu. And, representing the Psychics party, Madame Cleo Browne.

Cold Hard Facts: Mr. Harrison, where does your party stand on the Iraqi war?
Harrison: I know nothing.
CHF: What about government wiretapping?
Harrison: I know nothing.
CHF: Surely you must know something? Is there some reason why you are running for president?
Harrison: I know no...
Hamilton: The only reason that little back-stabbing traitor is running is to split the Whig Ticket. We Whigs have not forgotten, nor shall we ever forget 1852. And nor is it only the Know-nothings. We know what you Free-soilers and Republicans are up to. Plotting our downfall at this very moment. But now, in our darkest hour, is the time when we will get those protective tariffs passed one way or another.
Madame Browne: The spirits show no such thing.
Hamilton: Shut up, Jacksonian. And take your bloody anti-Bank crusade with with you!
Count Nospertu: Vell I haf a platform. Ve Vampyres haf been persecuted for too long. Everybody makes fun off our accents. Ond there's all these movies thot make uss seem evil. Plus ve vant to restrict access to vooden stakes. You don't even need a license to buy von. It has to stop somevon could get hurt.
CHF: You do know you have to be born in the US in order to become president?
Harrison: Yes, there is no way a blood sucking foreigner will ever have sovereign authority over this land.
Hamilton: I agree with you. But I said that first. You Know-Nothings always steal our ideas.
Count Nospertu: I'll Haf you know I came here in 1678. So I om American. Ah, Ond that's another thing. Ve vant to remoff the restriction on access to Human Blood. It makes things so annoying.
Harrison: Never learned any English though did you?
Count Nospertu: How dare you. Even you should know that whole ridiculous accent thing is just to garner votes. I hope you sleep with plenty of garlic...
Harrison: I just might.
Count Nosperatu: Then I better kill you now. (Slurp)
Count Harrison: I see your point. Ve doo need to get rrrid off the rrrestrrrictions on Human Blood. Rrrright now you can't even enjoy it occcasionally. And the fake accent is pretty cool.
Hamilton: I will not stand for such underhanded debate tactics. I'm Leaving.
Madame Browne: I foresee your spirit will not even make it to the front door.
Hamilton: Well then it's a good thing I brought a steel stake with me. I will make my stand here.

Editorial Comment: The next part of the debate was so weird, we were forced to cut it.

Count Hamilton: It has been a pleasure debating you. I look forward to the victory of the Whig wearing Vampyres who Know-Nothing in the polls this November. Glad we finally worked out our differences.
Count Nosperatu: Glad I was able to make you see the Cold Hard Facts in the matter.

Dennis Lee, victim of Scientific repression.

Dennis Lee, the world Renowned inventor has invented not 1, but 300 machines that generate free energy. And the government won't let him use even one. I mean he's got all these machines buzzing around all over his house, yet the government forces him to depend on foreign oil. It's the Cold Hard Fact.

Every Fourth of July, Lee tries to benefit the public by launching his pyramid scheme/big release, but each time the government has mercilessly shut him down without cause.

And it's not just the government. Every physicist, chemist, and magician in the world is being bribed by Exxon-Mobil to say negative things about Lee. They even tried to pay me $1000 to say Lee is an idiot. Sometimes Exxon representatives even masquerade as curious audience members in order to waste Lee's precious time. The nerve! How dare that guy question the G-d given intellect of Dennis Lee! And for his information, everybody knows that in stable, normal water the positively charged hydrogens bond to each other but in explosive HOH they bond to the negatively charged oxygen atom. No wonder Lee has to keep his lecture tour secret.

We can't let this injustice continue. Snake oil salesmen must be allowed to sell perpetual motion machines to the general public. Everybody know the First Law of Thermodynamics is only a myth. There is such thing as a free lunch. The Cold Hard Facts must not b trampled by a vast Government/Oil Company/Evil Skeptics/UFO/Al Qaeda conspiracy. We will fight to the death over this issue, and we will win.

The State of the State is Strong

I am sure you all listened in rapt attention as George Bush announced that the state of the United States is once again strong. But now the Cold Hard Facts brings you the stirring word of other state leaders, who were unfortunately ignored by our biased media. And I am glad to say the states of those states are strong.
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Great President of Lower Half of the Republic of Uganda:
The state of Uganda is strong. Or at least this half is. I heard things weren't going so well in the north. I'll have to check it out.

Daniel Miller, President of the Republic of Texas
The State of the Republic of Texas is strong. Sure we're the laughingstock of the nation, but our cause is just. Soon even our so called President Bush will realize that he is a free and independant citizen of our glorious Republic.
John Jackson, President of the Nevada chapter of Kleptomanics Anonymous:
The state of our organization is STR. Hey, who stole my microphone.

Stirring speeches all. And for those in the Fanatical League of Chemical Terroists:
THe state of Operation Copper(II) Sulfate is strong.
